Firstly, this blog is about my journey towards financial freedom. As a Muslim, the way of getting money is as important as the money itself. Recently I received an article from one of my reader about the status of ASB from the eye of Syariah. Even this might be an old issue, I still want this blog to discuss about this. Before this, I remembered that one of the Kakiblog’s authors has already addressed this issue in one of his comment. To clear up this issue, I’m giving these links for those who are interested. My viewpoint:

Even though there are a lot of discussions in my blog about ASB, it consists only a small amount of my investment. With this issue around, I’m gonna clear up my ASB account and might reinvest in PublicMutual’s Ittikal. What do you guys have in mind about this?

My last ASB calculator doesn’t calculate the bonus for ASB. In this new version, I implemented an extra algorithm to include the bonus. If you find any glitch or error, please let me know

Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) has declared an income distribution totalling RM3.55 billion or 7.3 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) for its financial year ending Dec 31, 2006 (FY06).

ASNB is also making a bonus payment of 1.25 sen per unit, totalling RM409.82 million, for ASB, versus 1.5 sen per unit last year.

ASNB, a unit of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), said the income distribution was RM521 million or 17.22% higher than the RM3.03 billion (7.2 sen per unit) paid last year.

Up until Dec 15, 2006, ASB recorded a gross income of RM3.89 billion against RM3.44 billion in FY05, representing an increase of 12.84%.
